Last Saturday, August 4, more than 600,000 people gathered at the obelisk of Buenos Aires, Argentina,  to defend life under the motto “For The Two Lives,” in face of the event that will be lived on Wednesday, August 8, in the country’s Senate Chamber, where a law will be enacted that legitimizes  the “elimination of a human being by another human being.”
So stated a press release, of the Department of the Laity of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, on August 4, 2018.
The protest against legal abortion was called by the Christian Alliance of Evangelical Churches. Catholics supported it, joining the slogan to cry out once again: “Every Life Has Value.”
“In these last months, since the parliamentary debate began on the draft law of abortion, we have been able to support the different initiatives that all of you, in the different Dioceses, Archdioceses, Prelatures, Institutions, Ecclesial Movements and New Communities have carried out in favor of life,” points out the Episcopal Conference in the press release.
Through the social networks, a large protest in Congress is being convoked on the same day at 11 a.m. in defense of life, to express rejection of the new law. On May 20, 2018, 3.6 million people marched in 200 cities of Argentina on the occasion of the National Pro-Life March, before the approval of the draft law on June 13, which allows the practice of abortion up to the 14th week of gestation, with all expenses covered by the State. Never before had this draft law gone beyond parliamentary committees.
