A “Multimedia Editorial Archive” has been set up in the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication. The news was disseminated by Alessandro Gisotti, editorial deputy director of the dicastery, in L’Osservatore Romano dated August 3, 2019.
The Archive serves to «preserve the memory, transmit the contents, value the heritage»: «Among the objectives of the Holy See’s media is the protection of documents of particular historical importance.»
This “mission in the mission” of the Vatican media is now reinforced by the creation of the Multimedia Editorial Archive of the Dicastery for Communication – of which Paolo Ruffini is prefect – and is linked to the activity of the Central Archives Commission of the Holy thirst.
This new archive will carry out “the process of archiving the editorial documents (texts, audio, photo, video) of the entire Dicastery, guaranteeing their conservation and accessibility,” explains Alessandro Gisotti. It is intended for the digitalization of the material and also includes the files inherited from the media of the Dicastery for communication.
The coordination of this Archive is in charge of Pietro Cocco, former assistant of the Vatican Radio program director.
