The Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM) launched August 27, 2019, the initiative “40 Days Down the River: Navigating Together with God’s Good News towards the Amazonian Synod,” a series of daily reflections directed to all those that wish to enter in communion with the Synod. They are based on the Readings of the day, on the testimonies of people of the Amazon region and on Pope Francis’ invitations.
“Starting on August 27, we will navigate each day the Amazon’s rivers beginning with the Word, living testimonies of the region and Pope Francis’ invitations to feel in greater unity,” invites Mauricio Lopez, REPAM’s Executive Secretary.
Through its Web page and different channels, over 40 days REPAM will share these reflections, directed to all those who wish to reflect further on the care of our common home and knowledge of the Amazon, responding to Jesus’ call to “put out into the deep.”
Although not everyone can take part in the Synod on the Amazon, which will take place in Rome from October 6-27, 2019, REPAM is offering the way to do so spiritually, through the materials that will be made available daily, beginning August 27 until October 5 in different portals of the Catholic Church and also in Vatican News.
“An enormous preparation has been done for the Synod, in terms of organization, listening, and documents . . . but now it’s time to go into the deep, and to navigate in deeper waters, as Jesus Himself asks us,” encourages Mauricio Lopez in his video-message, published on August 26 by REPAM.
