“The Apostolic Nunciature announced that the Holy See has postponed all activity abroad; therefore, the Mission of Monsignor Charles Scicluna, Archbishop of Malta and Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and of Monsignor Jordi Bertomeu, scheduled from March 20-27, has been postponed, given the sanitary situation being lived in Italy, which has already touched Vatican City, regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19),” stated a note of the Mexican Episcopal Conference (CEM).
As the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni stated, the Mission would consist of a “technical advice service, fraternal aid and a dialogue that would help the Church in Mexico to be reaffirmed on the path undertaken in the right direction, to respond to the cases of sexual abuse of minors by clerics.”
Although this Holy See initiative has been postponed, the Apostolic Nunciature can continue to be contacted by anyone wishing to do so at nunciatura.mexico@diplomat.va, stated the press release.
CEM is grateful for the public’s understanding given this unexpected circumstance and will announce the new date at the appropriate time.
“We entrust to Our Lady of Guadalupe, especially all those suffering from this epidemic, which has affected many people in the five Continents,” concludes the note.
