The Pontifical Mission Societies in Colombia, which have responded to the Pope’s call to proclaim the Gospel even in times of pandemic, have offered the 77 ecclesiastical circumscriptions in the Country the material inspired by the Holy Father’s message for World Mission Day this year., according to Fides News Agency. The poster designed for World Mission Sunday also takes into account the current circumstances and the message of the Pope: «All are called to row together» – «Here I am, send me».

As announced by the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies, the meeting in preparation for the Month of World Mission was held on September 15th on the Zoom platform. In the morning there was a spiritual retreat led by the President of the Episcopal Commission for World Mission, Bishop Francisco Javier Múnera Correa of San Vicente del Caguán, in which the reflection on seven special missionary aspects in the behavior of Mary took center stage. One of these attitudes is to serve quickly, like Mary who «hurried» to the mission (Lk 1:39). Given the special situation of a pandemic, the missionary must also hurry to serve like Mary while carrying Christ in his heart. Missionaries should always proclaim hope and mercy and have full trust in the Lord, just like Mary.

For the Christian and for the ecclesial community, mission does not cease, it is their joy and vocation, like St. Paul VI writes in the encyclical «Evangelii Nuntiandi» 14. Everyone, depending on their condition, can participate with love in the universal mission of salvation with an effort of holiness, prayer, and sacrifice.
