The English Academy School, located in the town of Salamiya, has 350 students. It is aimed at the large community of foreigners who work in the oil industry in the Gulf state.
Courses began this month in the nursery school and in the first section of the elementary school. Generally, the pupils come from India, but also from Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
The congregation began in June 1998 to seek local government authorization to set up the school. The government gave its consent in mid-March.
