The new prelates will be able to hear from cardinals and bishops about their own experience in the episcopal ministry. The event is organized by the Congregation for Bishops, and the sessions are being held at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum.

The meeting began Wednesday with vespers. It continued this morning with a Mass presided over by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Among the speakers over the next few days is Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos, prefect of the Congregation for Clergy, who will focus on «The Bishop and His Relation with His Priests.»

Study groups have been organized according to continents. The participants attend lauds and vespers daily.

These episcopal meetings were introduced following the appointment of Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re as prefect of the Congregation for Bishops.
