The telegram was sent on Pope Francis’ behalf by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to the Bishop Timothy Harris of Townsville.
«His Holiness,» the telegram notes, «prays especially for the repose of the deceased, the healing of those injured, and for the important work of reconstruction.» It also notes Pope Francis willingly invokes upon those affected «abundant blessings of consolation and hope.»
