Nicaraguan Government Freezes Jesuit-Run University’s Bank Accounts

The Central American University (UCA) has been watched by the Nicaraguan Government, since the social and political crisis of 2028, for being aligned with the Opposition. The Nicaraguan Authorities did not inform the University of an investigation of its accounting and of the origin of its funds. To this intervention against the UCA is added the detention in February, and accusation against, Jesuit Bishop Rolando Álvarez, who continues to be in the Government’s prison.

Cleveland: Bishop Establishes Diocesan Sanctuary for Tridentine Rite

On July 28th, Monsignor Edward Malesic issued a decree transforming St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Cleveland into a diocesan sanctuary dedicated to the traditional Mass and the administration of other sacraments. Monsignor Malesic stated that the church would be employed «for worship according to the 1962 Roman Missal and other liturgical texts in use during that era.»
