U.S. Election Results Hailed by Pro-life Group

The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund said 22 of the 30 pro-life candidates it endorsed had won. One remained in a run-off. The wins increase the number of pro-life women in Congress to 12 from seven, the group said.

«This is a tremendous gain for the movement, and really demonstrates the strength of the pro-life message in these tight political races,» said Jane Abraham, the group’s president.

«We are very much looking forward to this new leadership in Congress, especially on important pro-life legislation like a ban on partial-birth abortion,» said Abraham.

Republicans will take control of the U.S. Senate with at least 51 seats, and strengthen their majority in the House of Representatives, the Associated Press reported.
