The special year will begin Oct. 17, at the conclusion of the International Eucharistic Congress, in Guadalajara, Mexico, and will end in October 2005 with a Synod of Bishops, in Rome.
The Pope announced a «special Year of the Eucharist» last June 10.
The apostolic letter will be presented by Cardinal Francis Arinze, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments.
Others on hand Friday will include Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, secretary of the congregation, and Archbishop Piero Marini, master of papal liturgical celebrations.
