The Apostleship of Prayer announced the Pope’s missionary intention for the month. Thousands of faithful worldwide offer prayers and sacrifices for the Holy Father’s prayer intentions.
The primary concern of Benedict XVI’s prayer this month are the 200 million people «who live and work in a country which is not the one in which they were born. This is a sign of the times and a phenomenon which transforms whole countries.»
The papal concern is pointed out by Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, apostolic nuncio and the Holy See’s permanent observer to the United Nations in Geneva, in his commentary on the prayer intention. The commentary was published by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
The Pope also prays every month for a general intention, which for the month of January is that all Christians may «grow in unity and love in order to build reconciliation and peace among all peoples of the earth.»
