A response to: Synod Propositions 31-35

I wholeheartedly endorse Propositions 31-35 regarding wider reading of the Scriptures in seminary training and in private devotions by both priests and laity. Such reading should ideally consist of a daily concurrent reading of the Old and New Testaments on a rigid schedule (available in many Christian bookstores) to allow coverage of the whole Bible in one year. In most cases this reading followed by meditation should take about a half hour per day, thus fulfilling the requirement for gaining a plenary indulgence as specified in Enchir. Indulg., 168, No. 50.
