WASHINGTON, D.C., AUG. 25, 2011 (Zenit.org).- With information in English and Spanish, the U.S. bishops are arming the faithful with tools to promote a culture of life.

Information from the bishops was released Wednesday in preparation for Respect Life Sunday, marked in the United States on Oct. 2. The theme this year is «I came so that all might have life and have it to the full» (cf. John 10:10).

The program includes eight pamphlets, «designed to offer a clear and compelling defense of Church teaching from primarily secular sources,» a bishops’ statement noted.

The topics of the pamphlets are abortion, contraception, the death penalty, persons with disabilities, embryo research, end-of-life issues, reproductive technologies, and love and marriage.

The pamphlets and two-sided bulletin inserts may be downloaded at no cost, as can printable versions of posters, flyers and other material.

Full-color glossy pamphlets and other printed materials are available for sale.

This year’s liturgy guide offers Intercessions for Life, rosary intercessions for husbands and wives, and a Holy Hour for Life based on Blessed Pope John Paul II’s reflections on the elderly.
