VATICAN CITY, JULY 6, 2012 (Zenit.org).- According to a communique released yesterday by the Vatican press office, the Holy See is taking part in the plenary meeting of Moneyval – a council responsible for evaluating European member States with respect to anti-money laundering systems
The meeting, which began July 2, concludes today in Strasbourg, France, where the official seat of the European parliament is located. The Holy See is taking part in this meeting with a delegation led by Msgr. Ettore Balestrero, the under secretary for relations with States. A report which relates specifically to the Holy See and the Vatican City State was adopted yesterday at the meeting.
Per Moneyval procedure, an amended version of the report – based upon yesterday’s plenary session – will be forwarded to the Holy See for possible further comment with one month.
