Following a phone call today with Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, Hobby Lobby CEO David Green expressed his solidarity with Priests for Life and the other religious, non-profit groups who, like Hobby Lobby, are challenging the Obama administration’s mandate that requires employers to provide insurance that covers sterilization, contraception and abortion-inducing drugs.

Green released the following statement:

“The religious freedom of believers of all denominations is under attack. Our family therefore joins in prayerful support of the Priests for Life case against the [Health and Human Services] HHS mandate. As our Hobby Lobby case represents the concerns of businesses, so the Priests for Life case represents the concerns of the religious non-profit groups. Together, we stand against this injustice, and for the law of God.”

Father Pavone commented, «I was proud to pray outside the U.S. Supreme Court on March 25 as Mr. Green and his family were inside. We are grateful to Mr. Green and his family for their support of us, as both of our organizations continue to fight for the freedom of religion guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. As Americans, we have to stand together to protect our freedoms.”

Priests for Life is the lead party in a lawsuit against the HHS mandate that will have oral arguments on May 8 in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Fr. Pavone has also announced a prayer novena that will begin April 30 and conclude on May 8. He urges all parishes and families to participate. See the prayers at www.PrayerCampaign.org.
