Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Ricardo Lingan Baccay as the bishop of Alaminos, Philippines.
The bishop had been serving since 2007 as an auxiliary of his native Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.
The 54-year-old prelate’s new diocese, on a western tip of Luzon islands, has a population of some 684,000, with 565,000 Catholics. They are served by some 50 priests and a few more than 100 religious.
