Pope Francis today noted that the Orthodox Churches are celebrating Easter this Sunday.
After praying the midday Regina Caeli with those gathered in St. Peter’s Square, he offered his “warm greeting to our brothers of the Orthodox Churches.”
“May the Risen Lord give to all of you the gifts of his light and his peace,” he said. “Christos anesti!”
Last June, the Pope said that the Vatican wants a common date for Easter. Both Anglican and Orthodox representatives have expressed a willingness to work for this goal.
