On June 29, 2018, Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See at the United Nations in New York, intervened in the Third Conference of Revision for the Implementation of the Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eliminate the Illicit Trade of Small Arms and of Small Caliber under All Its Aspects (RevCon3).
Reiterating his support of this program, the Holy See’s representative highlighted the progress made and pleaded for “greater international cooperation to restrict severely and eradicate “ this illicit trade, which is, in fact, “an obvious threat to peace, to development and to security.”
Archbishop Auza called to “combat the harmful activities that are linked (to this illicit trade), such as terrorism, the trafficking of human beings, the illicit trade of drugs and other forms of organized crime.”
