On the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a Catholic bishop called on the faithful not to be ashamed to share how God has changed their hearts and lives, reported CBCP News.

Bishop Broderick Pabillo, administrator of the Manila archdiocese, said that the mission of all Christians is to proclaim and live the Gospel in daily life.

“Let us not be ashamed to proclaim Christ in our words and in our service to others,” Pabillo said during Mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Makati City on Saturday.

Today’s feast, he said, challenges everyone to be active in society, inspired by the Gospel.

In 2021, the Catholic Church in the Philippines marks 500 years of the arrival of the Gospel in the land.

The episcopal conference has also chosen, “Missio ad Gentes”, as the theme of the pastoral year.

And according to Pabillo, “our model for the missio ad gentes is our Blessed Mother… the first evangelizer.”

“And like Mary, let us celebrate life. Let us protect life because that is a gift from God, that gives us hope,” he said.
