(ZENIT News / Washington D.C., 05.30. 2026.- Priest and exorcist Chad Ripperger revealed the current state of demonic possession, spiritual warfare, and the influence of demons in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson on April 3, 2026, providing precise theological data and concrete cases.
This priest founded the «Society of Our Lady of Sorrows» and the semi-contemplative Fraternity «Priests of St. Peter Damian,» dedicated exclusively to the ministry of exorcism. He has practiced as an exorcist for 20 years.
Carlson confessed to the priest that he was raised Protestant in Georgetown and viewed exorcism rites as a Latin Church oddity until he carefully read the New Testament and discovered a fact that Father Ripperger confirmed: 23% of the Gospels deal with Christ battling demons. And that’s why, when Christians say, «I believe in God, but not necessarily in the devil,» the response is: Do you believe the Scriptures? Because casting out demons was one of Christ’s primary missions: to save us from them.
The popularity of psychology from the mid-20th century onward relegated exorcisms to explaining any anomaly in people’s lives with purely psychological reasons, although this view is now being revised in the face of phenomena that cannot be explained solely by science.
A very influential factor of the devil in the political world is expressed by Father Ripperger with an analogy: «Communism and diabolical psychology are identical. If you peel back the veneer of a politician and a spiritual person, the thought patterns are exactly the same. Demons always present temptation as something wonderful that will give you pleasure and power… and then they destroy you. That’s exactly what Communism does.»
The exorcist noted that demons identify corrupt politicians because they are psychologically compatible with evil: «I have made this comment publicly about certain politicians: you can tell they are people in cahoots with the devil because everything they do maximizes the damage in their capacity to do it. And they show no remorse when lying. It’s a sign. People willing to sacrifice others for the most modest gain: demons are happy to kill thousands of unborn children to empower a particular politician.»
There is a comforting and little-known aspect: the fundamentally limited nature of demons. They are not omnipotent. They are subject to three barriers: their nature, their fixed will since the Fall, and, above all, the absolute authority of Christ: «As an exorcist, this gives me a great deal of confidence. If during a session they attack me a little, I know that Christ is still controlling and measuring how much and what they can and cannot do. Nothing they do can happen without His permission. Christ has complete control over the spiritual realm.»
The priest illustrated this with a revealing case: a demon possessed a woman in the lumbar region and confessed, under pressure, that Christ Himself had restricted it to that part of her body upon entering. «That made me understand that He controls everything: when they can manifest themselves, how they can attack the possessed person, and even how they can attack us in ordinary temptations.»
The exorcist precisely described certain signs, called preternatural, that allow one to discern demonic possession, such as the «morphosis» or physical transformation of the face or body in the possessed person, present in 90% of cases. «I have attended to several cases in which very feminine-looking women suddenly transformed completely into what appeared to be a man. And I am not the only one who sees it: there is a group present at the session, and they all see the same thing. The eyes also change, they hyper-dilate and become very black. Or the eyeballs disappear completely until only the whites are visible.»
Father Ripperger points out the extraordinary sign of speaking in languages. In the first case he attended, the possessed person spoke Phoenician, a dialect extinct for 3,500 years. Or the case of the demon whom Christ commanded to communicate only in Latin and who corrected the priest every time he made a grammatical error.
Added to this is hidden knowledge. Demons can know what is happening in another room, know what the exorcist is having for breakfast, or reveal the unconfessed sins of those present in the room: «If any of our attendees has an unconfessed sin, the demon knows it. And his attitude is, ‘If you don’t confess your sin, I still have power over you.’”
That is why, at the beginning of the sessions, the demons point to a certain person and reveal what they did that morning, without anyone present having known it beforehand.»
Father Ripperger commented on the increase in the spirit of fornication, homosexuality in men, homosexuality in women, and the sacrifice of children evident in abortions.
Furthermore, he indicated that some exorcists have verified that pornographic master copies are cursed to increase their addictive effect, so that their consumption increases the demons’ power within individuals: «A fellow exorcist had a case in which the demon, once weakened, confessed: ‘I entered through pornography.’ The man explained that he saw a video with a certain woman and something broke within him, and from that moment on he felt compulsively driven to search for and download what she had recorded. That’s how they enter.»
The priest also explained: «I asked him about the Assumption as the moment of Our Lady’s greatest glory, and the demon replied without hesitation: ‘No, that’s not how it works.'» I said to him, «And then what happened?» He replied, «It was her moment of great triumph: she had gone through life without sin and was entering Heaven triumphant.» He later admitted that, after the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ, the Assumption was the most glorious event in all of history.
Father Ripperger recommends other practices to remain protected: constant prayer, fasting, and abandoning serious sin: «I believe Christ is going to correct this, probably quite soon. We have reached a point where we are almost as bad as Sodom and Gomorrah. At least they didn’t try to marry each other.»
