The Apostleship of Prayer, a pious association, announced the missionary intention, which was chosen by the Pope and shared by millions of faithful worldwide.
The intention for October reads: that World Mission Sunday «will increase everywhere the missionary spirit of leadership and cooperation,» and that the faithful «may join to their fundamental duty of prayer the support also of economic contributions to the missionary works.»
Every month, the Holy Father also prays for a general intention. For October, the intention reads: «That Christians may not be discouraged by the attacks of secularized society, but with complete trust, may bear witness to their faith and hope.»
