Points on the agenda of the synod of the Chaldean Church, to be held in Baghdad June 24-28, will be the situation of Chaldean dioceses in Iraq and abroad, as well as migration challenges and organizational reform.
This is according to the Patriarchate of Babylon of the Chaldeans’ website. The synod will be chaired by the Chaldean Patriarch of Baghdad, His Beatitude Louis Raphael I Sako, L’Osservatore Romano reported.
Together with the situation of the Chaldean Church as a whole, the patriarch and bishops will address the issue of selecting new shepherds.
The synod will examine problems posed by the lack of new vocations to the priesthood and to the monastic life, which threaten to impoverish an ecclesial community that has suffered daily harships since 2003.
Patriarch Sako has released a special prayer to be recited in dioceses, parishes, monasteries and convents, after Sunday Masses. (D.C.L.)
