The incident occurred Saturday afternoon, between Atiak and Bibia in northern Uganda.
Father Peter Obore Oromo met his death while traveling from Atiak to Nimule. He was on his way from Kampala to south Sudan after attending a seminar of the Uganda Change Agency.
His body was taken to his parish in Nimule, in southern Sudan. Torit Bishop Paride Taban arranged for a charter plane to airlift his remains to Ikotos. The burial will take place in the priest´s home village, Tirangore, Torit County.
Ordained in 1987, Father Obore Oromo was parish priest of Loa-Nimule Parish.
Father Peter Obore Oromo is the third Catholic priest to be killed by armed men along the Ugandan border. Father Saturnino Obure and Father Leopoldo Anywar were killed Jan. 22, 1967, and Nov. 9, 1968, respectively.
On Sept. 1, LRA rebels ambushed a Catholic Relief Services vehicle near the Uganda-Sudan border, killing five people.
