His relics will be exposed there for veneration until Oct. 10.
On Sunday, at 10 a.m., John Paul II will preside at the Mass for the canonization of the Opus Dei founder in St. Peter’s Square.
On Monday, at 11:30 a.m., a papal audience will be held for the faithful who have come to Rome for the canonization.
Before the audience, at 10 a.m., Bishop Javier Echevarría, the prelate of Opus Dei, will celebrate a thanksgiving Mass in honor of St. Josemaría in St. Peter’s Square. The vicars general of Opus Dei will concelebrate.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Masses in thanksgiving for the canonization will be celebrated in more than 15 languages, in churches and basilicas around Rome.
The events will end with a solemn Mass in the Basilica of St. Eugene next Thursday. Afterward, the mortal remains of the newly canonized saint will be returned to Church of Our Lady of Peace.
