The uniqueness of this Pope’s Day lies in the fact that we experience it in the year in which the universal Church and the Church in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Paul II’s birth. Therefore, let us make sure that the Pope’s Day is lived with full commitment at the parish level, with the full involvement of cities and villages, with full commitment in the dioceses and in Warsaw itself – said Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, Metropolitan of Warsaw and chairman of the Council of the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation, during a press conference before the 19th Pope’s Day, which we will take place on Sunday, October 13 under the motto: “Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way”.

Cardinal Nycz emphasized that the relevance of the idea of the „Work of the New Millennium” Foundation is invaluable. „It is building a work that would be a concrete expression of that love that John Paul II lived and confessed. He was always happy when, in his surroundings and at his inspiration, concrete works were created that were an expression of love of neighbor” – said the Metropolitan of Warsaw.

“Today there are thousands of people who have already finished their studies, there are thousands of people who currently study and learn” – reminded Cardinal Nycz and added that Pope’s Day promotes all the goals of the Foundation and raises funds for the scholarships.

This year Pope’s Day will be celebrated in Poland and in Polish communities around the world for the 19th time. The central celebration of the event will take place in Warsaw.
