Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications of Higher Education in Asia and the Pacific

The Holy See has ratified the Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications of Higher Education in Asia and the Pacific, which was adopted on November 26, 2011 in Tokyo by an International Conference of States convened by UNESCO.
The Holy See had participated with a Delegation led by HE Mons. Joseph Chennoth, Apostolic Nuncio to Japan, who signed the Convention in the name of the Holy See. On 16 July 2018, the Most Reverend Msgr. Francesco Follo, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to UNESCO, deposited the instrument of ratification at the Office of UNESCO’s General Subdirector for Education, Mrs. Stefania Giannini .
The Convention will enter into force for the Holy See, in accordance with the art. X.2 of the same, on 1 September 2018. The Convention in question constitutes a revision of the Regional Convention on the recognition of studies, diplomas and degrees of higher education in Asia and the Pacific, to which the Holy See had adhered on 10 July 1995.
