The Pontiff reminded the faithful about the day of fasting, to be held Dec. 14, which coincides with the last day of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. He also noted the prayer meeting for peace of world religious leaders, scheduled for Jan. 24 in Assisi.

Emphasizing that today the Church celebrates the feast of Christ the King, the Holy Father invited the world´s Catholics to “reign” with Christ, by accepting him freely and following him faithfully in order “to build a world where peace ´reigns.´”

“We must pray ceaselessly to obtain this great gift, which is peace; a gift of which humanity is in such great need,” the Pope said at the end of the Mass, during which he proclaimed four new saints.
