The priests left for Ars, France, after a departure ceremony April 27, the Fides news agency reported. They are thus participating in the Year for Priests in its last full month, before the official closing in mid June.

Bishop Tong exhorted the diocesan priests to take advantage of this valuable spiritual opportunity to “renew their priesthood.”

“The Lord has given you this gift of the priesthood,” he said. “Live this journey with a heart full of gratitude.”

The priests, wearing sweatshirts with the words “Hong Kong Priest 2010,” are led by Monsignor Dominic Chan, vicar of the diocese.

They will return home May 13, after stops also at Lisieux and with the Taize Community.
