«I give a warm welcome to the Arabic-speaking pilgrims, particularly those from Syria, Lebanon, and the Middle East!», said Pope Francis during his General Audience of August 2, 2017.
This morning’s General Audience was held at 9:30 in St. Peter’s Square, where the Holy Father Francis met with groups of pilgrims and faithful from Italy and from all over the world. During his English-speaking remarks, the Pope also gave special greetings to Iraqi pilgrims from the Chaldean Patriarchate of Babylon, accompanied by Bishop Shlemon Warduni.
The Pope spoke in Italian, translated immediately into Arabic by one of his collaborators in the Roman Curia: «Baptism is the mystery of solid hope that never disappoints, because it enters into the Love of God, makes us an ‘Altar’ of the Holy Spirit, children of the Kingdom of God and members of the mystical Body of Christ, that is, the Church.»
«Let us remember the date of our baptism and celebrate it because it is the day of our new birth.»
«May the Lord bless you all and protect you from evil!» he said.
