On October 15, 2019, tenth anniversary of the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus — promulgated by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009 –, a Symposium will be held in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Gregorian University.
The event is co-sponsored by the Faculty of Camon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, ten years after the promulgation of the Apostolic Constitution and its Complementary Norms.
In the light of this experience, the Symposium will gather experts in Theology, Canon Law and Liturgy, who with their interventions hope to make known more fully to the universal Church the rich content of these documents and their practical <implementation>. The Ordinaries of each of the three Personal Ordinariates will be present and describe the successes to date and the challenges that have arisen in this first decade.
Program
Cardinal Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will present the event at 9:15 am. The morning session, moderated by Father Ulrich Rhode, Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University, includes time for questions and debates.
For his part, Archbishop Augustin Di Noia, Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will address the historical context of the development of Anglicanorum Coetibus, whereas Father Gianfranco Ghirllanda, Professor Emeritus of the Pontifical Gregorian University and Consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will address the canonical elements of the Apostolic Constitution and the Complementary Norms.
The Reverend Walter R. Oxley, an official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will moderate the evening session. During the latter, Professor Hans Jurgen Feulner, with a Licentiate in Theology from the University of Vienna, will analyze the liturgical dispositions for the Personal Ordinariates. He will be followed by Monsignor Mark Langham, Catholic Chaplain at Cambridge University, who will speak on the ecumenical implications of Anglicanorum Coetibus.
The Symposium will conclude with a round table, in which those that will take part include: The Most Reverend Steven J. Lopes, Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter in North America; Monsignor Keith Newton, Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in Great Britain, and Monsignor Carl Reid, Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross in Australia.
