The Annual Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Bishop’s Conferences will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 25 to 27 September 2020.
Considering the current health regulations and the difficulty traveling from some countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Presidents of the National Bishop’s Conferences that are will be unable to reach Prague, will participate via videoconference.
The chosen theme for this year’s Plenary is: “The Church in Europe after the Pandemic. Perspectives for Creation and Community”.
Starting from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si, on the fifth anniversary of its publication, and in light of how much is taking place across the whole world due to Covid-19, the European Bishops will meet in order to reflect on the changes and the repercussions that the pandemic is provoking.
The work of the Plenary will focus on what are the religious, pastoral, and economic consequences after the Coronavirus, and starting from those three aspects, every President will illustrate the situation within their own Bishop’s Conference.
Then, in common discussion, emphasis will be given to what we are learning from the pandemic and what significance does all of this have for the care of Creation.
