(ZENIT News / Rome, 01.25.2024).- Just as international trips by Pope Francis are taking shape on the horizon for 2024, pastoral visits within Italy are also being confirmed.
At the conclusion of the Permanent Council of the Italian Bishops’ Conference on January 24, the Secretary-General confirmed that the Pope will be in Trieste, the capital of the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, on July 7 this year to close the 50th Social Week of Italian Catholics (https://www.settimanesociali.it/). This event, promoted by the Italian Episcopal Conference, will feature Pope Francis delivering a speech and later celebrating Mass.
Another city the Pope will visit in 2024 is Verona, almost two months before Trieste, on May 18. As previously reported by ZENIT, this visit was announced by the Bishop of Verona in late November 2023.
