(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 02.15.2024).- Starting on 17 February, within the liturgical season of Lent, the Pope’s Museums will offer, for six consecutive Sundays, a special guided tour. Each tour will have a theme that will bring visitors closer to the works and artists of the Vatican collections that have depicted, over the centuries, the episodes of the Passion and Resurrection of the Lord.
The tours will pass through the depictions of the central events of the life of Jesus. From the sarcophagi of the first Christians, illustrating images of the Death and Resurrection, to the masterpieces held in the Vatican Pinacoteca: first and foremost, Caravaggio’s Deposition and its exemplary depiction of the lifeless body of Christ. To conclude this unique “journey”, at once historical, artistic and spiritual, naturally we will visit the Sistine Chapel and admire the triumph of the Christian hope in the wondrous Michelangelo’s Last Judgement frescoes.
A visit and experience open to all, including families with children (recommended age 6 and over).
