ROME, JAN. 28, 2005 (Zenit.org).- A Vatican aide warns that values labeled as feminist must become human values «or humanity will fail.»
That caution was sounded by Salesian Sister Enrica Rosanna, undersecretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, in her book «The Richness of Being Woman,» published by Sígueme.
In the book she analyzes the so-called feminine question and proposes the way of «feminine genius,» either in the vocation of motherhood or that of consecrated life.
The book outlines a history of women and a synthesis of international conferences on woman.
According to this Salesian teacher, «If women really want to offer their richness to the world, it will have little to do with what men are and do.»
Sister Rosanna, who holds a doctorate in sociology, believes that «it is not possible to continue collaborating in a society that seeks at all costs» to «have» rather than to «be.» Therefore, it is imperative to focus on the values of «care and concern for others» so that humanity «will not end up by being dehumanized,» she states.
Acceptance of «the other person» belongs in a special but not exclusive way to a woman, said the religious. «It is precisely in her dedication to others in daily life where she perceives the profound vocation of her life.»
She added: «Woman’s genius is yet to say the last word in the history of humanity.»
