One objective of the course is to acquire keys «to understand the Catholic Church at the start of Benedict XVI’s pontificate,» said Marta Brancatisano, academic coordinator of the course.

The course was thought out by 25 so-called Vaticanologists who are already in Rome covering religious information but who want additional tools to understand the complex world of the Vatican.

The course is organized by the Association of Vaticanologists Accredited in the Vatican, the University of the Holy Cross, and the Iscom Association. The director of this initiative is Monsignor Lluis Clavell, retired rector of the pontifical university.

The March 3-June 16 course will comprise 12 morning sessions at the University of the Holy Cross. The professors hail from several pontifical universities of Rome.

The course will focus on themes such as the structure of the Church; the organization of the Vatican; secularism and religious liberty; and theological keys to understand Joseph Ratzinger’s thought.

Course lecturers will include Archbishop Bruno Forte, a member of the International Theological Commission.

The course costs €250 plus tax. For more information, e-mail: info@iscom.info, specifying «Vaticanologists Course.»
