The Pope said this when he greeted a delegation from the prestigious Japanese university following the English-language summary of the general audience Wednesday.

The Sophia University was founded by three Jesuits in 1913.

«My hope and prayer is that the next centenary of your university will strengthen you in your service in the pursuit of truth, and your testimony of harmony between faith and reason,» the Holy Father said before blessing the members of the delegation and their families.

Among the alumni of Sophia University is Father Adolfo Nicolás Pachón, current superior-general of the Society of Jesus.
