The Pope’s Secretary of State has issued a press release to announce that a web site for Peter’s Pence, the Pope’s charity, is now online at www.obolodisanpietro.va.
Peter’s Pence is a collection that traditionally takes place throughout the Catholic world on the Solemnity of the Saints Peter and Paul, June 29.
The monies collected are given to the Holy Father for the needs of the universal Church and works of charity in favour of the neediest.
Now this long-standing initiative of solidarity is also present online, via a specific and entirely new site available already in English, Italian and Spanish. The portal will be updated with images and words of Pope Francis and will soon be translated into other languages.
Created at the behest of the Holy See, the site is the result of an important collaboration between the Governorate of Vatican City State, the Secretariat for Communication, and the Institute for the Works of Religion.
Aside from the content, great technical care has been taken to ensure the navigability of the site, addressed to faithful throughout the world, so they can explore in more depth the meaning of their offerings of charity, and offer via internet a contribution to the works of mercy, Christian charity, peace and aid to the Holy See.
