Pope Appoints Auxiliary of La Plata, Argentina

The Holy Father appointed Rev. Jorge Esteban González, Rector of the Cathedral and Pro Vicar General of the same Diocese, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of La Plata (Argentina), assigning him the titular see of Alesa.

Rev. Jorge Esteban González

Rev. Jorge Esteban González was born in La Plata on June 20, 1966, was ordained a priest for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of La Plata on December 7, 1992. He obtained a degree in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He has carried out the following tasks: Parochial Vicar, Professor of the Instituto de Teología of La Plata, Formator and Professor of the Major Seminary, President of the Archdiocesan Commission for Communication, Parish Priest of the Inmaculado Corazón de María Parish in City Bell, Council Member for the Formation of the Permanent Diaconate, Member of the Presbyteral Council and Dean of the Northern Zone.

He is currently Pro Vicar General, Rector and Parish Priest of the Cathedral Church, Member of the Presbyteral Council, Professor of the Major Seminary, and Director of the Group for the Permanent Formation of the Clergy.

He is a member of the Federation of Diocesan Priests of Schönstatt and from 2007 to 2018 he was National Councilor for Women’s Youth of the same Movement.
