DUBLIN, Ireland, SEPT. 28, 2010 (Zenit.org).- On Sunday, Ireland will mark the annual Day for Life, which is celebrated throughout the United Kingdom.

Scotland marked the day on May 31, and England and Wales celebrated it on July 25.

The theme for this day is the meaning of Christian death and care for those who are dying.

Bishop John Fleming of Killala, the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference Day for Life delegate, explained: «The Day for Life celebrates life as given to us by God.

«This year’s theme talks about life and gives us a very rich view of the Catholic position of life, namely that no matter how long or how short life is and no matter what condition it is lived in, life has a value because it is given to us by God.»

On the conference Web site are various resources for marking the day, including a pastoral letter from the bishops on the theme, video interviews, a video reflection, and information for parishes.
