The cardinal, a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization, advocates a “new way of living the faith,” according to an address he gave to an archdiocesan curia meeting last week.

Evangelization, the cardinal said, is needed throughout the Church — in the Middle East, in Turkey, in Europe, and also at home.

“The peoples to evangelize are in our own house,” he asserted. “The Gospel is not a good that constitutes our privilege [as Catholics], but a good for the world.”

“[We must] take up Jesus’ mandate always,” he said, “to go out to the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to all creatures.”
