The third National Week for Life and the Family will be celebrated across Canada May 10-17, in accordance with the plans, priorities and resources of each diocese.
Again this year, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is offering dioceses, parishes and other non-profit groups possible resources and options for planning and organizing local activities.
The theme in English is «We’re all connected», and in French «Réconcilions famille et travail«.
The English theme focuses on assisted suicide. The theme in French is linked to the theme for this year’s Semaine québécoise des familles (Quebec Family Week).
The dates for the National Week for Life and the Family coincide with those for the Quebec week celebrating the family and also with the United Nations World Day of Families, May 15.
Again this year, dioceses across Canada have been involved in developing the materials for the National Week for Life and the Family, one diocese from the French Sector and one from the English Sector. For 2015, the English-language materials were prepared by the Archdiocese of Vancouver, and the French-language materials by the Archdiocese of Québec.
As possible supplemental resources for the National Week for Life and the Family, the CCCB last year posted a resource on the family rosary, written by Archbishop Paul-André Durocher of Gatineau, CCCB President, and designed by Salt + Light Media Foundation. As well, additional materials on the family are available in preparation for the 2015 World Meeting of Families to be held later this year in Philadelphia.
