The Right to Life League of Southern California is building a culture of life in Hollywood and across America, investing financially in UNPLANNED, a movie based on the true story of Abby Johnson, a former award-winning director of Planned Parenthood, who is now a pro-life activist, which will be released in theaters nationwide Friday, March 29. In fact, the Right to Life League was the first pro-life organization to financially support UNPLANNED, helping launch the movie that is changing hearts and minds on the issue of abortion.
UNPLANNED  continues to garner headlines after the MPAA recently classified the film with an “R” rating for “some disturbing/bloody images,” seemingly — and indirectly — endorsing the pro-life position: namely, that abortion is an act of violence.
UNPLANNED delivers a sobering look at the holocaust that takes place thousands of times a day in abortion mills throughout the United States,” said Tony Sands, president of the Right to Life League of Southern California. “It’s through film, the written word, and contemporary communication that we must educate people everywhere about the horror of abortion. UNPLANNED has the power to bring truth as well as heal, deliver and transform our culture.”
The Right to Life League is America’s first pro-life organization. Founded in 1967, the League’s charge was to meet then-Governor Ronald Reagan to address the proposed Bielenson Bill that would legalize therapeutic abortion in the state of California. Incorporating in 1969, the League’s goal was to address the needs of women who were faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Today its mission has expanded to inculcating a culture of life from conception to natural death through the establishment of ultrasound-equipped medical clinics, pregnancy centers, maternity homes, a teen integrity program, a post-abortion healing program, and an education division.
