(ZENIT News / Washington, 03.05.2024).- An international summit of diplomats, researchers, and thinkers took place on Tuesday, February 27th, in Washington, DC, to address the growing concern about the “infusion of gender ideology” into politics and international affairs.
Representatives from countries such as Hungary, Mexico, Spain, Poland, Italy, Brazil, and Canada gathered to discuss the dangers that radical gender ideology poses to society, the family, and individual rights worldwide.
The event, which followed a public conference organized by The Heritage Foundation on “The Dangers of Gender Ideology at Home and Abroad,” brought together experts from various organizations, including the Machiavelli Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Italy and the Ordo Iuris Institute for Legal Culture in Poland.
During the meeting, participants discussed a draft statement of principles warning against the dangers of gender ideology and emphasizing the importance of protecting freedom of belief and expression, as well as maintaining the legal distinction between “sex” and “gender identity.”
Austin Ruse, president of the Center for Family and Human Rights, highlighted concerns about the inclusion of the phrase “gender-based persecution” in a new treaty on crimes against humanity, warning that this could endanger religious or traditionally minded individuals.
The international coalition plans to continue working on the statement of principles, aiming to clearly define gender ideology and highlight the non-partisan nature of their effort. Despite political differences, coalition members are united in their commitment to resist and reject the gender ideology that threatens individual, familial, and national rights.
This international gathering underscores the importance of joining forces to address the challenges posed by gender ideology and its implications in various sectors of society.
