(ZENIT News / Rome, 12.26.2023).- We share with our readers this video in which two professors from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum (APRA) analyze the new Vatican document, «Fiducia Supplicans,» which allows blessings for couples in irregular situations, including same-sex couples. This Declaration, approved by Pope Francis, offers a pastoral and theological reflection on the meaning and value of blessings, and how they can express the Church’s closeness and mercy to those who seek them.
The priests and professors of theology and bioethics analyze the controversial reception of the Declaration and how it is fundamentally in continuity with the Church’s doctrine on marriage and sexuality, while developing and enriching our understanding of blessings.
In the video, Father Andrew Dalton, LC, Professor of New Testament at the theology faculty of APRA, and Father Michael Baggot, LC, Professor of Bioethics at the bioethics faculty of APRA, take part. They are accompanied by Father Devin Roza, LC, General Prefect of Studies for the Legionaries of Christ and a doctoral candidate at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, who shares insights and perspectives on the Declaration and its implications for the Church and the world.
