Leeds Bishop Asks for Coadjutor

LEEDS, England, NOV. 13, 2001 (Zenit.org).- Bishop David Konstant of the Diocese of Leeds, who is recovering from a stroke, has asked the Holy See to appoint a coadjutor bishop.

A coadjutor bishop is an assistant bishop with a right of succession when the diocesan bishop retires, which is normally at age 75. Bishop Konstant is 71.

He suffered a stroke in May while on his way to Lourdes, France.
