I have been following the debate on face-to-face vs. anonymous confession. I think the debate seems skewed toward the penitent, on when he or she should choose either of the two ways of going for confession. The priest too has the right to choose whether to listen to confessions anonymously or face to face. While many may not admit it openly, my experience as a priest shows that the larger majority prefers anonymity in confession. It is also, in most cases, more prudent to have anonymous confessions.
