Pope Francis assured his prayer after the earthquake that struck the Island of Ischia in Italy on August 21, 2017, causing two deaths.
At the end of the General Audience, over which he presided on August 23, 2017 in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall, the Holy Father expressed his “affectionate closeness” to “all those suffering” from this disaster.
“Let us pray for the dead, for the wounded, for their dear ones and for persons who lost their dwellings,” he requested.
The quake of a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale caused the collapse of several buildings of the Island of Ischia, off Naples.
