Canadian Appointed to Doctrine of the Faith

VATICAN CITY, JUNE 12, 2001 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II today appointed Canadian Bishop Marc Ouellet, 64, consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Until recently, Bishop Ouellet was secretary of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity.

The new consultor, who was consecrated bishop by the Pope on March 19, is also vice president of the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism.
