Charismatic Retreat for Priests

ROME, MAY 24, 2010 (Zenit.org).- Priests in Rome for the closing of the Year for Priests can take advantage of a charismatic one-day retreat on June 8.

The retreat is organized by the International Service of Catholic Charismatic Renewal, in collaboration with the the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships. It will be held at St. John Lateran and focus on the theme «The Gift of Priesthood.»

Official events to close the Year for Priests are scheduled for June 9-11.

The Congregation for the Clergy is supporting the retreat, and in fact, the secretary of that dicastery, Bishop Mauro Piacenza, will lead a time of Eucharistic adoration.

Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, will celebrate the Mass.

Other speakers include Bishop Joseph Grech of Sandhurst, Australia; and the international director of Evangelization 2000, Father Tom Forrest.

Prayer for a new outpouring of the Spirit will be led by Vincentian Father Kevin Scallon and Sister of St. Clare Sister Briege McKenna. Sister McKenna is known for a gift of healing.

Registration is free, and a lunch will be offered to all those registered.
